Our partners recently represented the EMPHATICaL project at the IEAGHG event, ‘10th High-Temperature Solid Looping Cycles Network Meeting’, in Sweden on 17 March, sharing the latest advancements in solid looping cycles with Europe’s top researchers.

🔬 Néstor D. Montiel-Bohórquez (Department of Energy - Politecnico di Milano) presented ‘Integration of Calcium Looping and Solid Oxide Electrolysis for e-methanol production in steelmaking’, a techno-economic analysis of the EMPHATICaL process converting CO₂ from metallurgical process into e-methanol through the integration of Calcium Looping (CaL) with Solid Oxide Electrolysis. As the partner responsible for EMPHATICaL’s performance evaluation, Polimi is ensuring our systems meet the highest technical and economic KPIs for industrial decarbonisation.

🧪 Richard Porter (UCL) presented ‘NOx Transformation and Reduction Kinetics in Calcium Looping Systems,’ exploring the role of gas-phase and surface reactions in governing NOx behaviour under CaL conditions.
