D1.1 Market Analysis examines the market potential for e-methanol and the key technologies being advanced within EMPHATICaL. It assesses the growing role of sustainable methanol in the defossilisation of industry and transport, as well as the opportunities and challenges for producing e-methanol from CO₂ captured from metallurgical industry gases.
The deliverable also analyses the market potential of five key technology areas: calcium looping CO₂ capture, advanced digital pollutant monitoring, flexible methanol synthesis, closed-loop heat pump-assisted distillation, and the integrated EMPHATICaL concept. It concludes by outlining the steps needed to bring these technologies towards a First-of-a-Kind plant and support their wider deployment across Europe.
